Welcome

  •  Lab Digester • Absorption Tester  •  Formation / Floc Analyzer  •

Welcome to Greenwood Instruments, a supplier of Laboratory Digesters, Absorption Testers, Formation / Floc Analyzers and on-line measurement instrumentation designed to support product and process improvement in the pulp & paper and non-woven industries.  Our instruments combine years of design evolution as well as enhancements due to recent advancements in technology.  The features and options available on the instruments are a direct representation of customer based feedback, additional features can be integrated to YOUR specifications.

Each instrument may be ordered in a standard configuration with many different options or customized in both hardware and software to meet your needs, in many cases, at no additional charge.  In short, our instruments are distinguished from the competition with durability, reliability and technical advancement due to our constant product improvements.  Furthermore, our product support is unmatched with electrical and software engineering at the disposal of the customer.

Our Lab Digester is ASME designed, manufactured, tested, inspected and stamped.  Some competitors claim to be ASME or CE compliant but fail to produce the ASME stamped product.
Our Laboratory Digester is operated by personal computer with an easy to navigate intuitive graphical user interface.  Features include temperature profile creation, PID temperature control, H-factor calculation and cook termination, automatic PID tuning, real time temperature graphing and more.  Others may claim to provide similar features, but again, fail to deliver.

Our Formation Tester utilizes a fully digital square pixel scientific camera that eliminates the common ghosting and other image artifacts so common in analog camera/frame grabber based instruments.  The Formation Tester has a fully integrated self regulating light source that adjusts to each basis weight.  The instrument provides an industry standard Formation Index that correlates extremely well with visual rankings and responds to differences in formation with twice the sensitivity of competing units.  The Formation Tester also provides a Floc and Void analysis in order to provide a detailed description of the sheet structure.  Data and images may be stored and retrieved for later comparison and trending.  A graphing function plots the Formation Index over time for a given grade of paper.  Minimum, maximum and average statistics are also calculated  for the grade.

Our Absorption Tester is completely operated by a personal computer, thereby eliminating tedious Yes/No menus and data downloading.  Absorption data is graphed while the test is being conducted and tests may be stored and recalled later for graphing.

Thank You

Our Lab Digester is ASME certified , not merely "ASME compliant" and operated completely by a personal computer with an intuitive user interface.  The ramp and soak times are quickly set, temperature control is tuned with Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) settings that may be automatically generated.  The H-factor is automatically calculated and the cook may be terminated when a user defined H-factor is reached.

The Absorption Tester is also completely operated by a personal computer and features graphing of the data as the test is conducted.

Our Formation / Floc Analyzer is also completely operated by a personal computer with a consice user interface and features an optional automatic feed mechanism for reel strip testing.
